Nepal earthquake disaster relief projects
On behalf of the disaster-stricken people in Nepal, we thank you very much for your generous help!!
Total number of donors (including individuals and groups): 138
Total donation received so far: CHF 57’243.05
We have decided to setup an “SNS Earthquake Relief Fund” containing at least CHF 60’000.-, most of which is expected to be raised in donations. The SNS board has already developed an initial concept on how we will utilize this fund.
The donations shall primarily be utilized in two different ways: on the one hand, SNS will contribute to a global initiative of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) that aims at rebuilding 1’000 homes for specially needy and vulnerable people. On the other hand, SNS will participate in reconstructing public infrastructure such as school buildings, water supply, or health posts, focusing primarily on activities that provide “help for self-help”.
Following the General Assembly in Basel on 13 June 2015, the SNS board has decided to donate CHF 10’000.- out of the SNS Earthquake Relief Fund for the repair of two school buildings in the framework of the “SUK-Project Marmat”.
