Rastriya Prajatantra Party- Nepal (RPP-N) Chairman Kamal Thapa on Saturday appealed to the civil society, human rights activists and the intellectuals for mounting a positive pressure for delivery of the much-awaited constitution by January 22.

peaking at a programme held by Reporters Club Nepal here, Thapa said the activities of the political parties, when the time was lapsing, indicated slim possibilities of the new constitution being drafted on time, and called for positive pressure from all to not let that happen.

Stating that the new constitution must be promulgated on time so as to not keep the people in a protracted confused state, the RPP-N Chair emphasised on keeping the disputed issues as state restructuring, forms of governance, judicial and electoral system on hold.

“Nepali Congress and CPN-UML among some other political parties are seeking to bring a constitution through majority and such a constitution will only last for a short time,” Thapa said adding, “So all kinds of discrimination must be ended and the parties, communities and classes with dissenting views must be included.”

Thapa said RPP-N could forge working alliance with NC leaders and other groups for incorporating a provision ensuring the status of Hindu nation in the new constitution.
